THE STRATEGIST BEHIND THE SCENE

MEET MIKAELA ANN MCCLURE

My career began within the curated world of the luxury goods and fine wine & spirits sector, where I quickly discovered that a brand is never just a product. It is a narrative, a legacy, and an experience. Today, I work within the premium beverage industry, supporting brand growth through sales, business development, and trade marketing while approaching every opportunity with a strategic marketing lens.

I have developed experience across multiple commercial functions at Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits, where I gained a firsthand understanding of how brands compete, scale, and sustain relevance in highly dynamic markets. Working directly with accounts and supporting brand execution in market has shaped my perspective on how strategy translates into real world performance, from shelf placement to consumer engagement.

This foundation has driven my interest in brand strategy and consumer behavior, particularly within the premium spirits space. I am professionally fascinated by what I call the Modern Heritage paradox, the challenge of preserving a brand’s traditional identity while ensuring it remains relevant to a global, digitally native audience. I am especially drawn to how legacy brands can evolve through thoughtful positioning, storytelling, and innovation without losing authenticity.

I thrive at the intersection of commercial execution and strategic thinking. My focus is on translating consumer insights and market dynamics into clear, actionable direction, whether through go to market strategy, brand positioning, or identifying growth opportunities across channels. Exposure to trends such as ready to drink expansion and shifting premium consumer preferences has strengthened my ability to connect industry insight with practical application.

The problems I enjoy solving most are centered on how brands move from presence to performance. In an increasingly competitive beverage landscape, I am interested in how strong positioning, effective trade execution, and consumer relevance come together to drive growth. Whether supporting in market initiatives or developing broader strategic recommendations, I aim to contribute to work that is both thoughtful and results driven.

As I continue to grow my career, I am focused on evolving into a strategic marketer who bridges analytics, creativity, and execution, building brands that are not only well positioned, but successful in market.
